The Big 4 gap
Big 4 firms charge EUR 800-1,200/hr. Their deliverables are scoped to retainer hours, not to what notified bodies require. EU AI Act practice teams launched in 2024 are still building their methodology, typically extending existing GDPR consulting teams. In the Annex IV Technical Documentation we have reviewed from prior Big 4 engagements, we frequently see gaps in Article 9 risk register depth and Article 14 human oversight specificity, two sections notified bodies examine most closely.
The SaaS dashboard gap
Vanta and Drata produce evidence dashboards. An evidence dashboard is not the same as the Annex IV documentation procurement teams and notified bodies demand. Neither platform produces the Technical Documentation narrative required under Article 43(1)(b), the EU Declaration of Conformity under Article 47, or the CE marking package under Article 48. They are useful for GDPR control evidence; they do not satisfy EU AI Act notified body requirements.
